IOM in Germany
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an agency of the United Nations and works with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners in the field of migration. IOM is committed to dignified and orderly migration and supports the implementation of the 2030 Agenda through its work in the areas of intervention that include humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, IOM cooperates with ministries and authorities such as the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), the relevant state ministries, as well as civil society organizations, welfare associations and diaspora organizations. Areas of work include, but are not limited to, return and reintegration, resettlement and humanitarian admission, family reunification, crisis response, resource mobilization and psychosocial support.
In addition to the country office, the Global Data Institute (GDI) is also based in Germany, and is dedicated to research and knowledge management in the field of migration.
